I quickly became a fan of flavored vodkas when they were first introduced to the masses a few years back. It was fun to play around with mixers and create your own cocktails and martinis, but it wasn't long until every vodka distillery was copying each other, and had a stable of about 3 or 4 flavors. There was Vanilla, Lime, Lemon, some tried to have us pronounce lemon with a french accent, thinking this was some exotic new discovery of a lost flavor recently unearthed. Some tried to introduce new flavors, Watermelon anyone? How about chocolate? I'm drinking vodka here, not some kid chewing bubble gum. Then I was introduced to a small distillery who really understood the complexities of vodka, and chose unique flavors that complemented the spirits, instead of masking them. No one else is doing what Indio spirits is doing with their unique and varied flavors. How's this for thinking outside the box: Wasabi vodka, Lemongrass-lime vodka, Oregon marionberry, or my favorite, Blood orange. If flavors aren't for you, and you prefer a traditional martini, try the amazing award winning Silver Edition. Anyway you try it you wont be dissapointed, and Indio will quickly become the brand you choose first. Their spirits are all hand crafted in small batches, ensuring you get the same care and quality in every bottle. My favorite way to enjoy these unique flavors is served chilled, straight-up. Pairing it with foods instead of serving wine is something i've been doing lately too, introducing friends to the new ways of enjoying Vodka. Another favorite cocktail is my ginger ale, Blood orange, with an orange garnish over rocks. I've had a great response to this and am always asked for the recipe. But i want to know what other Vodka effcianados can come up with, so please blog in and tell me how you enjoy your Indio!
